RE: Use of 1/2-inch flame-resistant foam board
Dear Lloyd,
I am writing to share our reaction, as a long-time exhibitor at the New York Gift Fair, to the use of the 1/2-inch foam board as replacement for the 3/16-inch foam board that we had previously used. (To quickly recall the reason that impelled the change, the 3/16" board was warping severely during the course of a five-day show. In August, 2005 you suggested substituting the 1/2" board for the 3/16" board to avoid this problem. We followed this suggestion.)
We think the installed 1/2-inch board looks great. The surface is flat, clean, and secure. It rather looks like a hardwall, but has the advantage of being lightweight and it is possible to pin products directly onto the surface. [This is important to us, as we have always required a surface that allows us to pin product-samples directly onto the walls of our booth.] The first installation of this thicker foam board in our booth was in August, 2005. We repeated this choice in our next New York Fair as well, in January 2006.
Evaluating the appearance and function of this thicker foam board in relation to its somewhat-increased cost over the 3/16" variety, we had no problem deciding that the slightly greater expense resulted in a decidedly superior display.
